Manhattan

A classic Manhattan cocktail garnished with a cherry, served in a coupe glass, with a mixing glass and stirrer in the background.

Published in bartenders’ guides as early as 1880s. It basically is a whisky cocktail with the addition of vermouth.

  • 1 ¾ oz Canadian Club whisky
  • ⅔ oz sweet vermouth
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • Maraschino cherries
  • glass: cocktail
  • mixing glass
  • stirer
  • strainer
  • Put ingredients into mixing glass and stir. Strain into glass and garnish with cherry.
