This recipe is so much fun! Every one enjoys them and marvels at how it could be done. The magic in this recipe is you can make almost any design your imagination lets you.
For this year’s Halloween, I served little spiders sitting on top of cobwebs alongside scary ghosts. The kids loved seeing and eating them. (Yes, the attached photo is all cookies!)
One note: You have to move fast once these cookies are poured and cooking. Depending on how intricate your design is, they can be time consuming but worth it!
HOT TIP: If your skillet is heated just right the batter will sort of ‘sizzle’ as you pour and the dough will start to cook immediately. This helps in keeping your design shape.
Try coloring the batter for the occasion. Other ideas for shapes: snowflakes, candy canes, ‘Happy Birthday’, hearts with arrows, … let your imagination go wild. Enjoy!
For the leaf photos above, I colored the batter orange. The multi-colored effect involved pouring the leaf outline, letting it cook a little, then filling it in. Cool!
