Anonymous Rose Petal Sorbet

Bowl of pink ice cream garnished with rose petals and almond slices, with a scoop, spoon, milk jug, and bowl of ingredients on a wooden surface.

I have had this recipe taped to my refrigerator for the past two years which I received at a gourmet pot luck party I attended. I do not know who made this so cannot thank that person nor attribute to him … It is a remarkable dessert, you only need a tiny portion to be satisfied since it is so full of taste and fragrance!

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup organic rose petals
  • ½ cup almonds, skinless (slivered almonds work well)
  • 3 drops natural red food coloring
  • Heavy sauce pan
  • Measuring cup – liquid and solid
  • Blender
  • Cheesecloth
  • Ice cream machine
  • In a heavy sauce pan, heat milk, sugar, and rose petals over medium-low heat until almost boiling. Let cool for a few minutes, then puree in a blender with the almonds.
  • Strain mixture through layers of cheesecloth (or cotton cloth) to remove almond.
  • Add food coloring.
  • Chill thoroughly and process in an ice cream maker following the manufacturer’s instructions
