Aunt Dolly’s Black Bottoms

My Aunt Dolly makes these little tiny cupcakes for every family gathering, and they’re always the first thing to disappear.

cream cheese mixture

  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 egg
  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • 6 oz mini choc chips
  • chocolate batter

  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup cocoa
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup water
  • ⅓ cup oil
  • 1 tblsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • electric mixer
  • sifter
  • mini cupcake pans
  • 36 mini cupcake liners
  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Beat cream cheese, egg, ⅓ cup sugar, and ⅛ tsp salt until well beaten. Stir in chocolate chips and set aside.
  • Sift flour, 1 cup sugar, cocoa, salt and baking soda. Add water, oil, vinegar and vanilla. Beat until well blended.
  • Fill cupcake cups ⅔ full with chocolate batter and top with 1 tablespoon cream cheese mixture.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes.
