Fresh mint tea

Fresh mint tea in a glass cup on a beige plate with a metal kettle and mint leaves on a wooden cutting board in the background.

After a good meal, I enjoy a simple cup of fresh mint tea. You simply can’t get the flavour nor, I suspect, the benefits from a peppermint teabag. And this is just as simple to prepare.

Mint has been used throughout time as a medicinal herb to treat stomach aches and to aid digestion. I give it to David after spicy food. It ensures a quieter night, if you know what I mean.

  • A handful of fresh mint (leaves and stalks)
  • Kettle
  • Teapot (or mug)
  • Boil a kettle of water (filtered preferably).
  • Heat a teapot.
  • Add the mint and fill with boiled water.
  • Steep for at least three minutes.
  • Drink hot.
  • Try it with a little honey for sweetness.
