Gibson

Classic cocktail with an onion garnish in a martini glass, ice-filled mixing glass, bar spoon, and a striped cloth on a wooden counter.

Named for American artist Charles Dana Gibson at the Player’s Club in New York, NY in 1940. Rumor has it the bartender ran out of olives when making a martini so he used a peal onion. The onion fast became a favorite of Mr. Gibson.

  • 2 ¾ oz gin
  • a dash of dry vermouth
  • 1 pearl onion
  • Glass: Cocktail
  • Stirrer
  • Mixing glass
  • Strainer
  • Ice
  • Stir gin and vermouth over ice cubes in a mixing glass.
  • Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  • Add the cocktail onion and serve.
