Italian Popcorn!

A bowl of seasoned popcorn on a granite countertop, with an olive oil bottle and a kitchen towel in the background.

Hello!

I am writing a children’s cookbook series (www.handstandkids.com), where each book is based on one country. There is a section in my book that takes food from an average American child’s diet and turns it into a food from another country. Here I am taking plain ol’ popcorn and “Italinizing” it. Please let me know if you enjoy this recipe and if you think it’s kid friendly.

  • 1 bag of plain microwave popcorn, preferably organic
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil (olio)
  • ¼ cup grated parmigiano, grated
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Large bowl
  • 2 Pot holders
  • 2 large spoons
  • Pop the popcorn in the microwave according to the directions on the bag.
  • Use caution when opening the hot bag with potholders .
  • Pour the popcorn into a large bowl and drizzle the olio evenly over the popcorn.
  • Sprinkle the rest of the ingredients on top.
  • Mix everything together with the two large spoons and get your napkins ready, your fingers are going to get working!
  • I am not sure if the topping should be heated before pouring onto the popcorn.
