Classic Old Fashioned cocktail garnished with an orange slice and cherry, served on a napkin with a half orange and mixing glass in the background.

The old fashioned whiskey cocktail is making a comeback. I couldn’t be more thrilled.

Ready

  • 2 ounce rye whiskey
  • 1 teaspoon simple syrup
  • 2 dash Angostura Bitters
  • Slice of orange for garnish
  • Orange zest
  • Cherry for garnish
  • ice

    • Set

  • High ball glass
  • Stirer
  • Zester

    • Go!

  • Rub the highball glass with the zest of an orange.
  • Add ice to glass.
  • Add Whiskey.
  • Add bitters.
  • Stir gently.
  • Garnish and serve.

    • Recommendations

    Beware of recipes that muddle in an orange and cherry. These just make a syrupy mess.
