Sugar Cookies

This recipe was my grandmother’s. She passed away in 2002, but some of my fondest memories include her making dozens of these cookies at Christmas for us to enjoy. Now, my girls & I make them year-round using different cookie cutters depending upon the season.

  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbs milk
  • 1 Tsp baking soda
  • 3 ½ cups flour
  • ¼ Tsp nutmeg
  • 2 mixing bowls
  • rolling pin
  • cookie sheets
  • In large mixing bowl, cream butter & sugar.
  • Add the eggs, beaten.
  • Add the milk.
  • In small mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda and nutmeg.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients in the large mixing bowl.
  • Refrigerate dough overnight.
  • Roll out dough and cut into cookies using cookie cutters.
  • Bake at 375°F for 8-10 minutes.
