I can’t even begin to imagine how this recipe began but butter, sugar, chocolate? I’m in! With its salty sweet goodness, this is a major crowd pleaser.
Ready
40 saltine crackers
1 cup of light brown sugar (packed)
1 cup of butter
1 12 oz bag of semi sweet chocolate chips
1 small handful of plain roasted almonds (roughly chopped)
Set
1 large rimmed baking sheet, lined with easy release aluminum foil
1 medium size saucepan
Heat oven to 400°F
1 spatula or offset spatula or even just a knife to spread the melted chocolate
Go!
Place the saltines next to each other on the baking sheet
In the saucepan bring the butter and sugar just to a boil and cook for about 3 minutes, until thicker, but not until it becomes caramel
Pour over saltines and place in oven for about 3 mins. It will be very bubbly when it comes out
Sprinkle the chocolate chips all over the saltine mess and place back in the oven for 1 minute
Take out of the oven and spread the chocolate evenly over the saltines
Sprinkle lightly with chopped almonds
Place cookie sheet in freezer for about an hour to set
Break into pieces

Stores great in the freezer. Serving frozen is good too – or any way you like.
