If you are ever in Joshua Tree (15 minutes away) or Palm Springs (35 minutes away) for that matter, you have to take a detour to Pioneertown to check out Pappy & Harriet’s. You can’t miss it, it’s the only thing off the side of the road for miles. Pioneertown was actually built as a movie set, Gene Autry movies were shot there. So it’s got this whole burnt out Wild West town feel. The shocking thing is that the food is great. The shredded chicken salad and the Linda’s Salad are particular favorites. You have to have the house dressing (which is ranch mixed with salsa). Yum!
