Pizza

A poplar Italin dish originating from Naples. In it’s simplest form it consists of a thin slab of bread dough spread with a thick tomato sauce, covered with Mozzarella cheese, seasoned with herbs and spices, and baked at a high heat.

There are endless varieties of pizza types and pizza toppings.

The word pizza derives from an Italian verb meaning to sting or to season. From the same origin comes a la pizzaiola, a piquant mixture of tomato sauce, shreds of pepper, herbs and garlic, which is suitable for pasta, pork chops or grills.

Neapolitan pizza went around the world with migrating Italians, who openned pizzerias in the major cities of Europe and North America.
