Too much pepper in my soup
Submitted by David on 15 February 2007 - 1:16am.
In the course of making ‘Janey’ soup I put in too much black pepper. It’s OK (just) for me, but my daughter definitely won’t like it. Are there any remedies to make it taste… well… less peppery?

This is a common dilemma and unfortunately once too much is added there is not a lot you can do. When adding seasonings, measure out in your hand or ramekin and not directly into product. This way if you pour too much, you can adjust. The rule of thumb is when seasoning, is to add a little at a time, tasting as you go.
