I have had this recipe taped to my refrigerator for the past two years which I received at a gourmet pot luck party I attended. I do not know who made this so cannot thank that person nor attribute to him … It is a remarkable dessert, you only need a tiny portion to be satisfied since it is so full of taste and fragrance!
Ready
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup organic rose petals
- ½ cup almonds, skinless (slivered almonds work well)
- 3 drops natural red food coloring
Set
- Heavy sauce pan
- Measuring cup - liquid and solid
- Blender
- Cheesecloth
- Ice cream machine
Go
- In a heavy sauce pan, heat milk, sugar, and rose petals over medium-low heat until almost boiling. Let cool for a few minutes, then puree in a blender with the almonds.
- Strain mixture through layers of cheesecloth (or cotton cloth) to remove almond.
- Add food coloring.
- Chill thoroughly and process in an ice cream maker following the manufacturer’s instructions
