Derives from the original 1850’s -Brandy Sour. Sours can be made with any spirit in which the fruit juices produce the “sour”.
Ready
- 1 ¾ oz bourbon whiskey or blended scotch whisky
- ⅔ oz fresh lemon juice
- 1 egg white*
- dash gomme syrup
Set
- glass: cocktail
- shaker
Go
- In a shaker combine the whiskey, lemon juice, egg white, and syrup.
- Shake well. Strain into a cocktail glass.
- Garnish with a cherry and an orange slice.
What you should know
Note: You can omit the traditional egg white. You can substitute the gomme syrup for ½ tsp powdered sugar.
