What I love best about this book is learning about the history of the cocktail. Ted Haigh who is better known as Dr. Cocktail approaches his subject as if he were archaeologist and the result is a delight to read. Many of us have bought into the myth that the cocktail dates from prohibition. We were mislead. There’s far more history there than you imagine and Dr. Cocktail tells the story with all the class, style and panache of your favorite old time bartender. Oh, and there are some great recipes to be had too.
