createmad about saffron

I live in Chicago and want to know the best way to get good saffron cheaply. I mean I can get it, but are there some stellar recommendations out there? I seem to remember getting some iranian package once…
Saffron will always be one of those pricey spices. Try looking in foreign markets as opposed to specialty markets. Or, try looking online. I like Penzeys (http://www.penzeys.com/). They have both Kasmir and Spanish saffron. Another angle is to cozy up to a chef or restaurant owner. Sometimes they get a good deal buying in bulk, and they just might let you buy some.
