Bulgur

Bulgur (also spelled Bulghur and occasionally Burghul or Boulghour) is a staple in Middle Eastern cooking and popular in vegetarian cooking as well. Bulgur is made from wheat kernel’s that have been steamed, dried and cracked. The grain comes in corse, medium and fine grinds and has a tender chewy texture when properly prepared.

Bulgur should be cooked in double it’s volume of water for approximately 10 minutes when used (unless the recipes says otherwise.)

It is great sprinkled on salads salads, blended into soups and is a good alternative for rice.
