Mint lime sorbet

The marriage of tart lime and cool mint can’t be beat this sorbet for a refreshing dessert or palate cleanser.

Ready

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup tightly packed fresh mint leaves (or ¼ cup dried)
  • ½ cup fresh lime juice
  • 1 tsp grated lime peel
  • 1 Tbsp green creme de menthe (optional)
  • Mint leaves to garnish

Set

  • Nonreactive, heavy bottom saucepan
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Ladle
  • Ice cream maker

Go

  1. Combine water and sugar in saucepan
  2. Place on heat and bring to a boil
  3. Simmer for about 5 minutes or until the sugar is completely dissolved
  4. Remove from heat, add mint leaves, and steep for 15 minutes
  5. Strain the syrup through strainer, pushing on leaves with ladle
  6. Let cool
  7. When cool, add lime juice, lime peel, and creme de menthe
  8. Freeze according to ice cream makers instructions
