createOld Fashioned Whiskey Cocktail

The old fashioned whiskey cocktail is making a comeback. I couldn’t be more thrilled.
Ready
- 2 ounce rye whiskey
- 1 teaspoon simple syrup
- 2 dash Angostura Bitters
- Slice of orange for garnish
- Orange zest
- Cherry for garnish
- ice
Set
- High ball glass
- Stirer
- Zester
Go
- Rub the highball glass with the zest of an orange.
- Add ice to glass.
- Add Whiskey.
- Add bitters.
- Stir gently.
- Garnish and serve.
What you should know
Beware of recipes that muddle in an orange and cherry. These just make a syrupy mess.
This looks like a great drink. Thanks for posting this in response to my request. My husband had one at a bar recently and we wanted to try it at home.
We are going to try them today while we watch the super bowl commercials.
