Making Cake on The Floor
A few years ago when my two boys were small, I think they were like 2 and 4 I was baking a cake in the kitchen. They were “helping.” About halfway into the recipe (one bowl Chocolate cake from Martha Stewart - yum) the phone rang. It was my sister and I hadn’t talked to her for a few days. My boys were at the kitchen table with colors so I decided to talk to my sister while I put some clothes in the dryer - typical multi-tasking mother. Anyway, once I finished the conversation I went back into the kitchen and shrieked! My sons had poured the ingredients, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, butter, eggs on to the floor. I had a sugar coating on my wood floor for weeks! Moral of the story - Never leave your children in the kitchen alone with a half finished cake!
Brilliant! What better cooking lesson than this. I bet your your two boys had a blast and may just grow up with a life time love of cooking knowing that it can be as fun as it can be messy.
I love this. Thanks for sharing.
It reminds me of the time I was once left in the kitchen with a finished cake. I ate it.
I guess you can’t have your cake and leave it!
