Avocado Ice Cream

I always like to try something different. This was a very good and interesting surprise. I always love to see the reactions of people before and after they try this. This recipe makes about 1 pint.

  • 2 avocados (about 8 oz each)
  • ¼ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ cup superfine sugar
  • 3 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • ½ cup heavy cream

  1. Peel and pit avocados.
  2. Cut into chunks and puree in food processor.
  3. Add remaining ingredients and process until incorporated.
  4. Process according to ice cream machine manufacturer’s settings.

John, this looks great… can’t wait to try it. I was at a dinner party some years back and was served avocado soufflé as a dessert. It was delicious. Have you come across it before?

Re: Avocado Ice Cream

I have heard of the soufflé. Looks like I will have to experiment.

Re: Avocado Ice Cream

Cool. Let me know the outcome. Meanwhile, I will try contacting that old buddy and see if he has a recipe!

Re: Avocado Ice Cream

I always tell my kids not to knock something till they try it. Well I finally tried this and loved it. My kids love it too. It’s easy to make.

Re: Avocado Ice Cream

This was a good ice cream recipe. It is great for dinner parties. My guests were definitely surprised. I had some store bought ice cream in the freezer just in case, but it was not needed.
