This very ‘country’ dish is a family tradition. It is a sweet-tart and colorful addition to any meal. Great for using those tart apples that are delicious in cooked recipes, though any crisp apple will work.
Prep time: 10-15 minutes (10-15 with auto-peeler) Cook time: 15-20 minutes
Serve with Homemade Pot Pie (Easy!) or as a side for almost any meal.
Ready
- Prepare 1 apple per guest
- 1 Tbsp butter per apple
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar per tart apple
- Dash of cinnamon
For a colorful presentation and a tasty mix, use different types of apples:
- *Green Apples: Granny Smith(my fav), Pippin, Melrose
- *Red Apples: Braeburn, Rome Beauty, Sommerfeld
- *Yellow: Ginger Gold, Golden Delicious
- *Mixed: Jonagold
Set
- Paring knife, apple corer, and apple peeler - electric or manual.
- Large skillet
Go
- Wash, core, peel and slice apples.
- Place apple slices in a large skillet with butter, sugar and a dash of cinnamon. Cover and simmer over med-low heat till soft but not mushy, stirring occasionally. Serve hot.
